CHARM is an inter-schools event, celebrating the talents and achievements of young people throughout Hyndburn.
The event was created to give the opportunity for outstanding young people to gain recognition for their talents and achievements.
Young people often do not get the recognition that they deserve.
Recent times have been difficult, many young people have faced challenging, adverse situations.
It’s estimated that half of mental health problems start before the age of 14.
Recognising and celebrating the amazing achievements of young people can have a positive impact on their mental health.
It can help raise their self-esteem and create a positive foundation for future life goals.
Local secondary schools are invited to nominate pupils from years 7-11, who they feel deserve an award for their achievements. There are several award categories including:
Young Voice Award
Sporting Individual Award
Inspiration Award
Young Carer Award
Young Person of the Year
In addition, each of the schools hosts their own talent show, with the winners from each school competing against each other at the grand final. The overall winner of the talent contest will also be given the opportunity to showcase their talents at our annual Charity Ball.
For Young People, Created By Young People
Each year the event is designed by a forum of young people, from each participating school. They are involved with the planning and running of the event on the night.
The forum will run the front of house, presenting, backstage and sound and lighting. CHARM gives the young people involved the unique opportunity to gain experiences in different roles and acquire new skills.
We are delighted to once again be working in collaboration with Carers Link Lancashire. As both of our charities rely on fundraising and donations, there’s also an award for the school that raises the most money leading up to the event.
The Grand Final will be taking place at Oswaldtwistle Civic Theatre on the 10th of March. Tickets for the event can be purchased through Eventbrite.
Join us for what will be a fantastic evening celebrating the talents and achievements of the young people of Hyndburn.
