What We Do

Our work within the community is a vital part of what we do at Ynot Aspire. Launched in Hyndburn back in 2008, working in partnership with over 30 local agencies we work closely with schools, social enterprises, local agencies and voluntary organisations in the area. Our community links give you all you need to break through any barriers to achieve you potential

In September 2011 we received 5 years of funding from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.

Over those five years, our outcomes included:

  • A 22% reduction of those young people not in education, training or employment
  • A 30% reduction in youth related Anti-Social Behaviour
  • A 74% reduction in first time entrants to the criminal justice system.

Our independent evaluation of our first five years of work reported potential savings to the public purse as a result of the Project are estimated to range from £328,000 in relation to young people prevented from entering the criminal justice system to over £10m in relation to the life time potentially negative costs savings of those [458] young people, who as a result of the Project have now seen their life chances drastically improve as they are steered away from being involved in anti-social behaviour. In 2016 we underwent another period of consultation with young people and partners to discover what they perceived to be the gaps in service in Hyndburn and we got a resounding answer: prevention and early intervention around young people’s mental health. This informed our second bid to the Big Lottery and we were awarded a further 5 years of funding from them. We are still working closely with young people and partners to shape our new Your Voice project to help us to tackle those gaps.

Supporting Young Minds, Building Brighter Futures

Nine Years of Early Intervention and Mental Health Support

Over the last nine years, Ynot Aspire has become a leading voice for youth mental health and wellbeing in Hyndburn. Recognising the growing challenges facing young people, we evolved our services to focus on prevention, early intervention and emotional wellbeing, ensuring that young people can access support before problems escalate into crisis. Today, our work reaches schools, families, communities and local services across the borough, helping young people build confidence, resilience and the skills they need to thrive. Through strong partnerships, innovative projects and a commitment to putting young people at the heart of everything we do, we have created a connected pathway of support that empowers young people to understand their mental health, find their voice and realise their potential.

Young People at the Heart of Everything We Do

We believe that young people are not simply recipients of support; they are leaders, innovators and changemakers. From our Youth Leadership Group and Mental Health Ambassadors to the annual CHARM Awards, young people play a central role in shaping, delivering and improving our projects. Their ideas, experiences and aspirations continue to drive our work forward and help us create services that truly meet the needs of local young people.

Looking Ahead

As demand for mental health and wellbeing support continues to grow, we remain committed to providing high-quality early intervention services that help young people build resilience, improve their wellbeing and create positive futures. Together with our partners, schools, families and young people, we will continue to ensure that every young person has somewhere to turn, someone to talk to and the opportunity to thrive.
